Configuring Swimage Encore for SCCM 2007 in Native Mode
For Swimage Encore to work with an SCCM 2007 site in Native Mode, the following additional configuration is required. Perform these steps on the Swimage server using an account that has local Administrator rights.
1. A computer certificate with ‘Client Authentication’ enabled.
a. Run the MMC and add the Certificates snap-in to manage ‘Computer account’, ‘Local computer’.
b. Navigate to \Console root\Certificates (Local Computer)\Personal\Certificates
c. If there are certificates
i. Check the expiration date to make sure the certificate is not expired
ii. Right-click on the certificate and select Properties. On the General tab, verify that Purposes are enabled and ‘Client Authentication’ is checked.
d. If there are no certificates, you may request a computer certificate as follows, or use the certificate request/approval procedures in your organization
i. Right-click on the ‘Certificates’ node in the left pane. Select ‘All Tasks | Request New Certificate’. Click Next
ii. Select the ‘Computer’ certificate type. Click Next
iii. Specify a friendly name, click Next then click Finish
iv. Refresh the MMC to see the new certificate. Verify its properties as described in section (c.) above.
2. Add the Swimage Server Access Account to the Administrators group on the Swimage server.
3. In a command prompt, run “IISReset”
After making the above changes, open the Swimage Encore console:
- Go to ‘Setup | ESD Connection’
- Click the edit link for the Microsoft SCCM 2007 connector
- In the Edit Connector popup, click the OK button.
Clicking the OK button causes Swimage Encore to setup/verify the SCCM connector settings. During this process, the SCCM site control file is read. The following site properties are read from the site control file and used by Swimage Encore when submitting content location requests to the management point. Each time any of these properties are changed in SCCM, the OK button on the Edit Connector popup should be clicked so Swimage reads the new settings. The settings read are:
- Site Mode (Mixed or Native)
- Default HTTP and HTTPS ports for client communication
- Enable CRL checking on clients (this setting applies to Native mode only).
